HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHH

Ahhhhhh. The Streets of Rage series.
My brother and I would sit in my room and spend hours beating minions about the face.
We still greet each other to this day with a hoooooaaah noise. It was the result of some brother on brother bonding that may not of been possible without the mutual smashing and pounding of gangland criminal heads.

And you could play the tunes from each level in the options menu.
Which for a 12 year old was some seriously bad ass techno anthems.
Not that i’d dance around my room to them or anything.

JUMPING FLASH

I remember playing flash round my friends house for hours. The graphics amazed and the scale of being a giant robot bunny really came across.

It really was a game that stuck in my memory. Whether it was because id been smoking something at the time. Who knows.

You can download it from the PSN for next to nothing but it is my Rosy memory. Don’t blame me if it doesn’t cut your mustard.

But in the scheme of things. It presents its self quite well even now.

IS IT A BIRD? IS IT A PLANE? NO…IT’S A DUCK

One of my earliest gaming memories was playing duck hunt on my neighbours sega master system. It involved aiming a simplistic infared gun at the tv and capping some ducks as they flew across the screen. If someone was to present this to me today…id probably choose to go and watch some paint dry instead. However, back then it was the absolute nuts. I spent hours shooting badly animated ducks and hogging the gun from my younger neighbours. It was the newest baddest thing and started me on my gaming career. For that I am thankful.

My first console was the NES . Nintendo’s first effort it was fine and did the job. I loved it. Then one fateful day I arrived home from school to discover we had been burgled. The dirty stinking aholes had taken my lovely Nintendo. Much to my dismay before my hardnut older brother could catch them. He was running around the house with a hammer and I really hoped he would find them. Lucky escape you burgling scum.

So we did the insurance thing. Claimed for our stolen goods and waited for our cheque to arrive. Just then….. the sega mega drive came out.

SWEET JESUS. This was what it’s all about. Streets of rage 1,2 and 3.

Dr Robotnics Mean Bean Machine.

All the sonics.

I had arrived. This was it. A life of Gaming was laid out before me.

Little did I know the first PlayStation was on it’s way.

God only knows what my grand kids will be playing. Holler deck?
