I love everything to do with these sci fi movie bad boys and the prospect of playing as a colonial marine on XBOX 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 had me practically weeing acid.
It has to be good. It has to be good I repeated to myself like some gibbering loon festering in his own filth. The exciting news ladies, gents and bug hunters is that it is GOOD.
I started off with the colonial marine mission as the urge to wield a pulse rifle was too strong. Thankfully this craving was satisfied early on and I was pumping full magazines into aliens acid splattering heads in next to no time. All the sound effects are true to the films and the constant bebeep bebeep bebeep of the motion tracker serves to keep you constantly on edge. You get to use all the weapons from the Aliens movie and they are all satisfying to use and you shoot bits off, or set fire too xenomorphs and face-huggers.
The ALIENS themselves look excellent and are very well animated. They spring from wall to wall, run along the ceiling and pop up from the floor just like in the James Cameron classic. They have a great tenacity to get at you and mess you up even crawling along with limbs missing , hoping to at least bleed on you if they cant eat your head.
Here is an example of their tenacity. They certainly want to meet you!
The colonial marine campaign in itself is a little short if that was all you were getting. But only a little and I have paid money for lesser games before. However there is the Predator campaign and the Alien campaign both of equal size and with sufficient variety and depth to make this a must have. Even if your not a fan of the movies for some obscure reason this kicks arseholes all over the shop and that’s without even going online.
Online ALIENS vs PREDATOR is awesome. There is a sufficient wealth of creepy maps which I’m told will be increased via down loadable content. Of course the selling point for online play is the choice to play as any of the three species which adds some considerable diversity to the normal third person shenanigans.
I love this game. Come play with me so I can shoot you repeatedly in the face.
This is 90% word with a 10% turd factor.

coming soon, the low down on Forza cheats. We have scoured the web and can’t find any decent Forza cheats. Watch this space as out Geek department locate the money.
HEAVY RAIN
So the demo for heavy rain is out. My initial thoughts were this is pants on an epic scale. Yet within about three minutes I was hooked.
I’m not generally a fan of point and click games which deep down is HEAVY RAINS basic premise. It is like the MONKEY ISLAND of tomorrow with a whole lot of atmosphere and film noir seediness thrown in. It’s essentially button mashing in sequence and on paper that sounds toilet in the highest. However the graphics are sublime. The story is very engaging with a very adult theme from the offset. I understand there are some nudie scenes later on,Hurrah!
There are some cheesy aspects like the detectives all seeing super tech glasses and glove but I suppose they are necessary to the stories progression and are easily over looked. There is a real freshness to this and a real curiosity as to whats coming next. Expect a full review soon.
THE MONKEYDOG
Being a fan of HALO since day one there is little I can say to knock anything Master Chief. The first game was a ground breaking masterpiece in the console world. It was enough to shift millions of XBOX consoles all by itself and generated legions of hardcore fans.
Then HALO 2 came along with its online play.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOH Sweet Jesus. My firstonline xbox experience was on HALO 2. I set up my XBOX LIVE account then plugged in my headset and the rest as they say is history. Hours upon hours of weapon, vehicle and insult based combat. It enabled the taunting of people from different regions. Different nations and even different continents.
I made many allies from all over the world and at least as many online foes.
But that was what made it amazing sometimes….The banter.
It’s 3 in the morning…I’m pitted against a really tough group of Americans from the deep south. They’re calling me everything under the sun. So I chuckle and reply that they have not been strictly following the Bible where motherly relations are concerned. This is all in the pre-game loby and my team has not turned up yet. They emerge and it turns out most are French. FANBLOODYTASTIC. Just when team talk may be essential in pasting the uncouth. I’m trying to recall gcse French at 3.am.
I wont tell you if I won that game but the point is the difference of cultures and nationalities brought together to play was fantastic. Now it’s just getting better and better as more and more people are joining in. When HALO 3 came along on the XBOX 360 it was to me one of my finest gaming periods. A massive one player campaign, co-op play for the whole game and online options which are still being updated now.I played a little less eventually but still have a game on occasion. Especially when a mate is new to XBOX LIVE. HALO 3 is the perfect introduction to the wonders available.
